5 Ways to Keep Your Teeth Healthy

Taking good care of teeth is your lifetime responsibility. Even if you have been complimented time and again for having nice teeth and a bewitching smile, yet you need to spend time in order to keep them the same way for a very long time to come.

When problems like tooth decay and deep-rooted infections set in, the most common way to treat them is tooth extraction (ผ่าฟันคุด, which is the term in Thai). This is mainly because, by the time you get around the issue, it has already gone too far to mend.

Hence, it is crucial to take daily steps to prevent the occurrence of such problems in the first place. Here’s all that you can do to take care of your teeth well.

  1. Never go to Bed without Brushing:

All the dentists unanimously advice to brush teeth twice a day. Still, many of us are in a habit of skipping the night brushing routine (and some of us have never developed it even).

Why brushing at night is paramount because it helps your teeth to get rid of food particles, plaque, and germs, which have got accumulated as a result of your eating activities.

  1. Take time to Brush and do it Properly:

Brushing improperly is akin to not brushing at all. Move the brush in a circular motion to remove the plaque- Do not apply too much pressure, learn to gently manoeuvre your way through every nook and corner of your mouth without being too aggressive.

If the plaque is not removed in a timely manner, it tends to build up and harden which can even lead to gum diseases.

  1. Do not overlook the Tongue:

While brushing is important, however, your tongue deserves equal attention too.

The plaque has a tendency to build on the tongue as well- Extreme cases may result in bad odor and a series of oral problems.

You may use a tongue cleaner to gently scrape off the build-up, in order to effectively prevent such issues.

  1. Use fluoride-based Toothpaste:

Fluoride is a major defense mechanism against tooth decay. Hence, apart from the flavor and whitening agents, you must look out for the presence of Fluoride while purchasing your toothpaste.

  1. Don’t skip Flossing:

You must floss at least once a day to not only remove the stuck particles but to treat plaque and stimulate the gums as well.

Make sure that you see your dentist at least twice a year to treat any budding issue in a timely manner- to avoid tooth removal besides other complications.

Apart from this, limit the consumption of acidic and high sugar content foods to avoid tooth decay issues.
