Methenolone acetate is well known under the trade name Primobolan.

Primobolan is one of the few anabolic steroids that has been developed and continues to be manufactured by a German company. Schering AG Berlin introduced the Primobolan in the early sixties in the form of various active ingredients.

One group contains the above mentioned metenolone acetate and the second metenolone enantate (see Primobolan Depot).

The form of acetate has until recently been available in injections and in various strength tablets.

Primobolan is an almost pure anabolic agent with only minor androgenic components. Although the relationship between anabolic and androgenic effects is very favorable, the anabolic effect can be assessed as not being too strong.

The acetate form of primobolan is not 17-alpha-alkylated and, in the first stage of processing, destroys and inactivates the liver of most of the active substance, so that only a very small amount gets into the blood. Acetablate form of primobolan stimulates the fat burning process, but the greater part of the active substance inactivates the metabolism of the liver. Primobolan tablets are not 17-alpha-alkylated but contain 17-beta-hydroxyl, and are relatively harmless to the liver. However, at high dosages, they can affect hepatic parenchyma, which is reflected in increases in bilirubin, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase.

Primobolan Side Effects:

Primobolan does not cause significant side effects because it is not flavored, it does not cause water retention, it is not 17-alpha-alkylated and has an androgenic effect only very weakly. Blood pressure, liver values, cholesterol levels, HDL- and LDL-values ​​remain mostly in the standard. Primobolan tablets often play the role of “starter drugs” and, on the basis of barely registrable side effects, many steroid users encourage a quick transition to “harder things” like dianabol, anapolon 50 and testosterone. Since primobolan is a derivative of dihydrotestosterone, it may cause excessive hair loss in certain genetic abilities. Endogenous testosterone production is limited to very high dosages and long-term use.


For bodybuilders, enanthate is a more effective form of primobolan.

The primary effects of primobolan depot are minimal, and in particularly sensitive individuals, light acne, deepening of the voice, or increased hair and hair growth are due to residual androgenic effects. Like the oral form, primobolan depot only has a slight effect on liver values, so their increase is extremely unlikely. Blood pressure, cholesterol levels, HDL- and LDL-values ​​remain as well as in the oral form. Primobolan depot is the safest injection steroid at all.

Androgenic anabolic steroids  are referred to as male sex hormones. The most important of these hormones is testosterone.

It is in males produced in testicles. It is synthesized from cholesterol. The simplified principle of regulating his work can be described as follows:
When the testosterone level drops below a certain point (which is different for each subject), the midsection begins to excrete GnRH (Gonadotropic Raeleasing Hormone). By acting in the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland (brain pendant), it increases the production of LH (Luteinizing Hormone) and FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone). In men, LH stimulates Leydig’s cells in the testes and encourages them to produce androgen hormones, testosterone. FSH, together with testosterone, stimulates Sertoli cells in the testes that stimulate sperm production and maturation. Sperm to properly mature, they need to “swim” in testosterone. The remaining testosterone is released into the bloodstream, where it absorbs 97-99% of the liver.

The remaining percentages freely enter the genitals, but especially the muscle cells, where they can support muscular growth under certain circumstances. At this point, the level of testosterone in the blood is high and the opposite process is triggered. Testosterone acts in the hypothalamus and suppresses the production of GnRH. There is also a transformation of a portion of testosterone into estrogens (female sex hormones). This feedback serves to maintain and regulate testosterone levels in the body. The mechanism of action is so- axis hypothalamus – pituitary – testes. For men aged 20-50 years, the average route of production is 7 mg testosterone per day.

The amount of LH and FSH production is always the same, their relationship correlates with each other. Only a small portion of testosterone production causes muscle growth. The organization is programmed so that sperm formation is much more important than muscle growth, spermatogenesis is a priority. This process is repeated every 1-3 hours.

In large doses, it can have a beneficial effect on some life-threatening blood disorders.
