Finding a new medical clinic can be nerve-wracking if you don’t have a plan for how to go about it.
However, by breaking the process down into steps, you can make the process much less stressful and more likely to yield good results.
Here is one roadmap you can use to find a good clinic for your condition. Feel free to tweak it to suit your needs or personality.
Start with a Search
Google is one of the best places to start, not only because they’re good at search itself, but because they offer reviews for most of their commercial results.
This lets you find clinics within the distance you’re willing to drive, and then see what other people think of them during the same search session. The only downside is that a new or small medical clinic may not have any reviews yet.
Check the Reviews and Background Information
Don’t limit yourself to Google’s reviews. Look at a few of the sites dedicated to providing reviews, general information, and other data about medical professionals.
These sites can give you info that will be very useful, such as what a doctor specializes in, where he or she was educated, and other things that let you know whether the practitioner is a good fit for your condition.
Make Sure Your Insurance is Accepted
One of the best places to start is on your insurance company’s site. It should have a physician or facility directory of those that take your plan. Alternatively, you can just call the medical clinic and ask them.
Some people like to start with the last option and get a list of clinics that accept their insurance before doing anything else. This is a perfectly fine variant. Simply do the other steps next if you prefer the insurance-first method.
